AVOID AT ALL COSTS
WARNING: DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO WEBAFRICA!
I joined Webafrica a few years ago when their service was top 3 in SA. Their service has sadly degraded over the years from bad, to worse, to borderline suspect and ********. My problems with Webafrica include: 1) Me upgrading my line to a faster speed with them charging me the new line speed without upgrading my line speed. I followed up with their technical division and the matter was referred to Openserve and after many attempts and the throttling continuing I dropped my line speed again out of sheer frustration. A few months later my line was upgraded to the faster speed again, this time WITHOUT MY INSTRUCTION OR REQUEST with my monthly charge increasing as well. This unfortunately only came to my attention when an automated warning was sent to me about monthly cost increases for a line speed I was not getting and did not order. I know for a fact I was not getting the line speed because I was strictly monitoring it after the throttling episode. 2) WebAfrica has in the T&C's the following, and I quote verbatim: "Please note: All Webafrica deals and packages are subject to change without notification. These include our terms and conditions as it relates to costs and deal/package structures for all of our service providers." They DO NOT HAVE TO NOTIFY YOU ABOUT ANY CHANGES TO DEALS AND PACKAGES.. this cannot be acceptable? Please read their T&Cs before signing with them. 3) Their entire online service is only accessible through their whatsapp bot, which is beyond useless. I struggled a few days to cancel my contract, which I am of the opinion is deliberately made very hard/impossible especially when you try to cancel at the end of a month. You struggle to get a hold of an agent and as soon as the "I want to cancel" subject comes up the connection might be dropped or the agent lost and you are redirected to the bot front page menu options.
Hellopeter is flooded with bad reviews so PLEASE consider carefully before subscribing with this ISP. Getting in is easy, getting the service you are paying for is harder (or impossible from other reviewers) and cancellation is an active grind.
