Vumatel PLEASE focus on people interested in fibre instead of those that aren't!!!!
I've been battling to get fibre infrastructure installed in my suburb Lombardy West for the past 4 years now. On Vumatel's website you're instructed to show interest in fibre by submitting your details and encouraging your neighbours to do the same. I've been doing that for the last 4 years but to no avail!!!! Vumatel's claim is that there isn't a 60% uptake in my area, so its not enough interest to install infrastructure. However they've installed infrastructure in EVERY SINGLE one of my neighbouring suburbs! Sandton; Kew; Glenhazel; Lyndhurst; Highlands North; Greenstone; Rembrandt Park; Lombardy East and even have plans to bring affordable fibre to the Township of Alexandra. So clearly there's an interest within the general vicinity! Vumatel also claims they're rolling out Fibre. If that's the case then shouldn't my suburb naturally be next in the roll out??? Unless of course there is now such roll out and Vumatel simply cherry pick where they choose to install fibre infrastructure, which I believe is what is happening here. My issue is; why am I penalised because other people are not showing enough of an interest in my specific suburb?! What about taking into consideration the general vicinity?! When is Vumatel going to focus on people that actually do want fibre instead of those that don't?! I've done everything required to get fibre in my suburb short of taking my neighbours personal details and submitting them without their permission. Why doesn't Vumatel actively promote their service in suburbs where they claim there is a lack of interest? Maybe it's not a lack of interest, it's a lack of information. MAYBE active promotion will garner an interest. Instead the onus is on regular people instead of the company itself. Infrastructure development is a problem in South Africa. Government doesn't develop enough infrastructure and now that companies have the ability to do so, they refuse to because not enough people are showing 'interest'. This is such a cop out. So they're no better than the South African government??? The problem is Vumatel just like other Fibre infrastructure providers i.e Open Serve & Metro Fibre only cares about their bottom line which is; getting a return on the investment of their time, effort and money. They don't care about clients/potential customers AT ALL!
Its just disgraceful how a company can do this...
