VUMATEL - Bad Experience compunded by bad service

On the afternoon of thursday 2nd Feb 2017 I was driving in Hyde Park in heavy traffic in heavy rain.

A Vumatel bakkie FX 05 XP GP was driving recklessly. I saw in my rearview mirror that it tried to push it's way in front og a vehicle behind me to come up my right hand side and nearly collided with that vehicle who hooted loudly at him.

The driver then swung over and came up my left had side, as as the left hand lane converged into my la e, forced his way in in front of me, causing me to have to brake, which in trun caused the vehicle behind me to brake and nearly hit me from behind.

He continued to drive in a reckless manner in conditions wehre the rain was tottential, visibility was poor, everyone was driving at 40km/h or less with lights on etc.

I called the number on the back of the vehicle ********** and reported the driver's reckless driving and gave the vehicle registration number and asked that someone in management call me back.

The following afternoon, having received no response from Vuma, I called the same number again and spoke to a guy called Monthutsi and explained the issue again and asked again that someone from management call me.

He explained that he worked in the call centre and that this would have to be referred to head office for an approriate manager to call me and that this would probably only happen on Monday.

Nothing happened on Monday.

On Tusday 7th February 2017 I again called the call centre and asked to speak to a call centre manager. I was put through to Eric. I explained that I wanted to speak to a senior manager about two issues:

1. the reckless driving of the vehicle

2. the failure of the call centre to ensure that a responsible manager call me back.

He questioned me endlessly about details of the incident. I gave him the basic information and said "please pass this on to a manager at head office and ask them to call me".

He continued to interrogate me about details of the incident and my subsequent calls.

I was about to go into a meeting and sais "I have given all the detail to your call centre twice before to no avail. I will have to give it all again if and when a manager calls. You have sufficient information to pass on to a manager and ask him to call me. Please do so. I must go now as my meeting is about to start".

He called me back a minute later during my meeting. I said to him "I cannot call now. Just pass the information on and get a manager to call me."

He said "I need to get enough information so that the manager can decide whether or not this is important enough to call you back".

I said "If the manager does not think that a driver driving recklessly in torrential rain and endagering others is important enough, thgen I will take this up in the media. I am in a meeting. If no manager has deemed this necessary to call me back by the end of the meeting to call me back, I will take the issue up through other channels.

It is now over an hour later. My meeting is finished. So as a first step, I am taking the matter up here at Hello Peter.

Vuma have spent the last 6months installing fibre optic cable in the street in front of both my house and my offices.

THEY WILL NEVER GET ANY BUSINESS from me personally or my company.

There is no "miscommunication".

There is bad service and incompetence.

I have given you my phone number on three occasions - use it.
