Vumatel and Webafrica are the terrible twins
If you can avoid the terrible twins Vumatel and Webafrica, please do so. In my new complex they are the approved service providers, so I contacted them for fibre installation (Vumatel), and Webafrica as the ISP. Literally every step of the process has been frustrating, from waiting two hours on a chat line so that WIllie-the-bot can get you an agent, then phoning sales (because they're the only ones at Webafrica that can actually be phoned), having queries escalated but not prioritised. Vumatel sent me two emails to say they had tried to contact me unsuccessfully, then I could see on my cell phone they did not. The Vumatel installer even told me that they do that if the workload gets too much, just to get people out of their hair. Webafrica didn't send my router, so when the fibre was installed, the wifi could not be activated. After receiving the router, I had to wait three more days to have an active connection because Vumatel did not change their system from "scheduled" to "installed". Then Webafrica couldn't activate the system because they saw a "No FX" error even after Vumatel had already told me that activation was complete. No, Webafrica told me it would take up to two more weeks to get it fixed. I asked the Vumatel installer if the fibre box could be placed in such a way that it would work upstairs as well as downstairs. No problem, he said. Now I'm lucky if I can watch TV downstairs and must get an extender. When you're on a chat trying to sort something out, you get transferred to specific departments, then you can start describing the issue again, even though they have a copy of the chat. I have never dealt with a company that has so many departments of people that do not seem to do much, and I include Telkom and government. The wait has cost me a small fortune in mobile data. I am now stuck with them, so let's see how it goes, but so far it has not been fun.
that you have not read/understood what I wrote. As mentioned above, the system is functioning now - I do not think you can do anything about the frustration I experienced to get to this point, unless you want to refund some of my mobile data costs.
