VUMA has no credibility, poor client service and lacks basic business ethics

Vuma installed fibre in our area in 2018, and the installation has since been 'completed' for several months. On starting the process, they ensured us that the sidewalks and pavements will be repaired/returned to the original state they were in - this is also something they claim on their website and in the handouts provided by their staff walking around in the area.

However, after they destroyed my pavement and gardens on my sidewalk, they did not take any effort in replacing any of the plants, nor did they repair the pavement nearly to standard - the pavement was not even a month old at the time.

Initially the pavement was filled with soil, poorly compacted and the bricks, most of which was broken from them hacking it up, was placed in the most untidy manner I've ever seen. Furthermore, they did not do the usual "grouting" one would expect to be done on pavements. They then proceeded to re-trench in the same area (for whatever reason) and re-lifter my pavement another 2 times (of which I am aware). Every time 'repairing' it worse and worse.

I have contacted Vuma directly, and a "standard" response was received, promising that someone will be in contact with me to resolve the issue. However, after some time has passed and despite several follow-up emails to their initial response, no person has contacted me and the pavement and sidewalks remain in disrepair. The pavement itself is not uneven, and I cannot trust that they would be able to properly repair it at all. Furthermore, as the pavement was brand new before they started, the original installer's guarantee thereon is now void due to Vuma's dreadful and unprofessional work. CPA dictates that I may in fact claim that everything be repaired by the original installer at Vuma's costs.

To ad to insult, I now continue to receive reminder emails from Vuma to pay and invoice, despite such being paid in March and the proof of payment being send to them on several occasions.

This all shows that Vuma has no credibility when it comes to claims and promises, does not worry about client service at all, and lacks basic ethics as a company. STEER CLEAR!!!!

After back-and-forth calls, a failed attempt by Vuma's contractor to (again) repair my driveway and some more general incompetence, I finally convinced them to pay for the replacement of my entire driveway (sidewalk to wall) by the original pavement installers... So that is the first issue sorted...

However, now I have another issue with Vuma that came to light: After Vuma installed the CPE and fibre line into my house (messing up my garden along the route I may add...), I decided to sign up with a service provided to make use of the "fast" internet. However, avter weeks of not being able to connect, and going back-and-forth between Vuma and the ISP - who was simply playing the "blame game" - I finally came to the conclusion (with the help of one of the more helpful agents at Vuma) that my Object Number was re-issued to another person who then continued to sign up with another ISP using both my and his O.N's...

Firstly, how the hell did someone get hold of my Object Number, and how was that person simply allowed to use it??? and secondly, why, after I confirmed that the ON belongs to me and verified this with Vuma, could they not simply correct the error???

Irrespective of this, Vuma then scheduled a re-installation of my fibre line for this morning at 8:30... Apparently the installer needs to now provide me with a new ON... After not showing up for the scheduled "installation", I ended up calling Vuma who confirmed that the installers were scheduled to come to me and that somebody will contact me asap to inform me of the delay... After waiting for hours, I then decided to leave for work - so another impact on my pocket done by Vuma's incompetence...

At the time of posting this, I have not heard from Vuma as promised, and still sit without internet...

This is the problem when a single company has a monopoly on fibre in a area: They don't care because they know there is no competition...

OK, so today after I phoned Vuma they confirmed that my original Object Number has been released and I can now use the ON to have my ISP activate my fibre... Lets see what happens next...
