Various water leaks caused by Vumatel in Weltevredenpark Ext. 4

<p>Weltevredenpark Ext. 4 has been without water since yesterday morning the 7th November 2016. It is now already the 8th November and we are STILL without water! I phoned Joburg water yesterday to report the matter. I phoned them again today to find out why it is taking so long to restore our water supply. The lady that answered my call told me that Vumatel, that is currently working in our area, is causing all the leaks. The big one from yesterday was at Kajuit and Landhuis Streets. Two more were added to day, i.e. at Laventel Avenue and Moerbei Street as well as at Amanie Street and Protea Road. I phoned up Vumatel and spoke to the Resident Liaison person for our area. He said that they apologise for this trouble, but unfortunately their diagnostic equipment for locating utility lines (water and electricity) is not accurate enough and is sometimes off by half a meter. I asked him who is paying for all of these damages caused by Vumatel. He said that Joburg water and electricity departments give them fines (they also caused a power outage yesterday in our area). I told him that I would send the bill for all the bottled water that I have to buy to keep us going while we have no water, to their company for a reimbur*****t. He said that "that would not sit well with their CEO". I told him that having to pay for all the water does not exactly sit well with me either!!! I guess now we know how much they really care about us!</p>
