The worse Fiber Infrastructure provider known to man and the spineless ISP.

If I could I would give them zero stars.

They have been the most dismissive and annoying part of my day consistently for the last 2 months.

Everyday is the same **** over and over. Through out the early morning to early afternoon the internet is great 100%, perfect no complaints as good as you would expect when paying more R 1300+ for your internet.

I have logged 2 tickets with my ISP regarding my high packet loss and high jitter and low download rate.

2 Tickets might not sound a lot but you have to consider that I had to have these ticket reopened and reopened time and time again because I would log the ticket with WebAfrica, that is all good and well, they will then log a ticket for me at Vumatel. Also good and all that, but after a day, Vumatel would close the ticket mark the issue as resolved and then leave there. Didn't lift a finger to try and hear my matter out.

Sometimes I might get a reply indirectly, stating, that "Please connect your laptop to the ONT directly with a cat 6 cable and run a speed test"

Now I have done this multiple times, and I have gotten videos, pictures, voice notes and pdfs (just pdfs filled with the screenshots of the webpages where I ran the speed and ping test).

Now I supply my ISP (WebAfrica) with all the evidence they request and they, from what I understand, then proceed to log the issue and attach my evidence to the ticket for reviewal.

Now I don't know how you can take a look at all of the evidence and still say "Well the line is active so there is not problem" and then close the ticket.

The attitude of "can't give a ****" and "you are making it up, looks fine to me" is so infuriating that I can't believe they have any customers.

I 100% understand why they removed the ability for the customers to talk directly to them directly, as it would probably cost more money to run the call centers to accept all the calls about their absolutely horrible service, than to pay the maintenance team to keep the infrastructure up and running correctly.

And understand this, WebAfrica is not clear of blame here. While I understand how it must be, to be a technical support staff, they also have their share of the blame.

Countless times I have called and complained and explained the situation. And every time it is the same grasping at straw answer I get. I understand that 90% of the time yes there is no issue and the client is probably just being silly, but when it isn't, all of their "troubleshoot tips" really start to feel more like it is about wasting your time till you get bored and give up in hopes that the internet will sort itself out later.

They really only start taking your seriously when you start threatening to change ISPs, which rather upsetting as I feel that it is very unprofessional that you have to threaten something before getting taken seriously.

I am not someone who likes conflict, and I understand oopsies happen, the line is down, there is a software or technical issue, shap I get it, technology it happens. However the fact that I have had calls ( not actual calls but using their really annoying WhatsApp interface ) where I feel I show that I am somewhat technically literate to the call center agent, and they still treat me like I don't know how to plug my laptop into a router. Where they have asked me, can I have a photo of your laptop plugged into the router, and a photo of how the cable is plugged into both sides, really, I get covering your bases but common, do you think I only by crocs because I might hurt myself with shoe laces?

There are two things that just seal the deal for me.

Firstly the fact that WebAfrica knows that Vumatel is an unreliable, unprofessional, ***********, ********, no ****s giving fiber infrastructure provider and still choose to work with them. They really do care about the missed opportunity cost of not being with them than the damage it does to be associated with such a train wreck of an IP (Infrastructure Provider).

Secondly is Vumatel in the most greedy and evil way possible charging a R1000 cancelation fee, so if you were unfortunate enough to have them as you ISPs IP (Internet service provider's infrastructure provider) after they have sent you to a metal breaking point, where you are so sick of them you want to remove them from your life but can't as doing so would cost you an additional R1000 to cancel a service which they barely deliver. That is so close to the definition to being daylight ******* as you can get without crossing over into an actual crime. It is like having someone spit in your coffee and then paying them R200 with a smile to do it.

TL;DR Avoid this infrastructure provider as far as possible. You are better of *****ing a wifi signal from the neighbors across the road who have dial-up.

Secondly WebAfrica if you very do read this, you need to sort yourself out, and realize the companies you partner with do reflect on you, which might cost you more than you think.

The words that have been censored are:
The 4 letter word for ****.
The 11 letter word for not good at your job ( not competent )
The 8 letter word for, as google would say " lacking knowledge or awareness in general "
The 7 letter verb for taking something without permission and it starts with 'R' and ends with berry
The 5 letter word for taking something without permission but it starts with 'S'

Good morning,

Over the weekend, we experienced almost continuous horrible service, to the point where we have an internet connection, but it's so slow and unstable that we can't do anything. Initially, I was hopeful, as the internet speed was good on Friday night, with low to no packet loss and no excessive jitter, which proves it can be done. This makes it even more frustrating that it's possible, but there's something else wrong, and nothing is being done about it.

We've been waiting and checking the ticket from WebAfrica's side every day, but there's no update. It always says "assigned to ROC team," and that's the end of that. It's been over two months since the first ticket was logged, and we've added evidence upon evidence that something is wrong. However, all we get is "No problem, the line is up." The thing is, our connection has never been down, but the service and connection we get are so poor that we can't use anything. The ping, packet loss, and high jitter make connecting to any online service nearly impossible.

I know how this sounds, but after a long day, I just want to relax and play some online games with my friends. However, every evening, like clockwork, the connection becomes so bad that we can't even connect to Discord. Note that the connection isn't off; it's just nearly unusable due to high jitter and packet loss. When we eventually connect, our experience is degraded, making it impossible to use the services. This is really annoying, considering we're paying for the best, but getting far less than what we're paying for.

We have a few people staying here, and most aren't power users, so they don't notice minor dips in speed. However, when it gets this bad, it becomes my issue to sort out. Unbeknownst to them, I've been trying to fix this for over two months. Every night, it's the same struggle: I get off work, and then I have to deal with the network. I run speed, ping, and packet loss tests, see something is wrong, and send the results to WebAfrica's support team. Every time, I get the same response – a pre-written script expressing sympathy, but no real solution.

I've connected directly to the ONT, ruling out any issues with our internal network. There's no way someone on the WiFi could cause a gigabit line to degrade to 50kbps. The last time I saw speeds this bad was in the early 2000s with a 4 Mbps ADSL line. I've provided extensive evidence over the weekend, yet nothing has been done.

Please tell me, are you getting all the evidence I've asked to be attached to my ticket? If so, why are you ignoring it and saying the connection is fine? If not, I'd appreciate an email or contact where I can send all the evidence I've provided WebAfrica so far. This might help solve the issue or strengthen my case.

Latest update: they finally resolved my issue. As for what was causing the issue, no details were given. They said they reached out to me, but I didn't receive any calls. However, I assume it could be due to a wrong number, so I've given them my other number. I'll update this post if I find out what the issue was, but so far, the issues have been resolved. I'm very happy that it's resolved; however, it still stands that the lengths I had to go to get this issue sorted out were excessive. Let's hope any future issues may be resolved more efficiently than this.
