The Vumatel contractors do not issue their workers with the correct or sufficient PPE

<p>Vumatel contractors came to cut up my cement driveway with a cement cutter this morning. They did not have water so I had to give them 20 litres (at my expense, of course) for their machine to be able to work. On the machine it states clearly that it has to be operated by a person wearing a safety hat. The operator did not have one. He was also not given ear plugs, even though the machine makes an unholy noise. He was also not given a dust mask for the dust caused by the cutting action of the machine. Luckily I had some ear plugs and dust masks left over from when gardening contractors worked at my premises a few weeks ago, so I gave him some ear plugs and a dust mask. However, I do not keep hard hats in stock at my house, so the poor chap still had to work without one. The Department of Labour should look into this matter. Vumatel also should not employ contractors if they are not in good standing with the DOL.</p>
