Substandard Fibre Install

The fibre instalation from the street point to the ONT is sub standard and done by incompetant sub contractor's. The conduit from the street point to the house is just under the ground, literally just coverd with soil and not 300mm deep as per specification. We cannot work in the garden in this area for fear of damaging the fibre. The conduit is not properly terminated at the street box and is open to the elements on the house side. The conduit sections are not glued together. A section of the fibre cable runs unprotected and exposed to the elements over an IBR roof. Under the roof over hang the fibre has a coil of about 50m excess fibre lying on the roof that is part of the active fibre.

The installers were subcontractors to Vumatel and were very unprofessional. They just rushed to get the fibre installed and did a substandard install.

We have requested our ISP to have this resolved without success. Trying to log it with Vumatel results in you being transferred from Peter to Paul.

We demand that the fibre cable be reinstalled correctly according to standard and that the reinstall is supervised.
