So much for putting everything back the way you found it

From the outset of the trenching for the fibre laying in the Gerdview/Sunnyridge area vumatel has assured us that they would put everything back the way they found it. They seem to have kept their promise with the exception of my property. They started the trenching operation 2 weeks ago and worked pretty much everyday until last week Monday when they disappeared from the entire suburb for the remainder of the week. leaving my driveway with the bricks put back but no concrete /sand mix swept into the gaps between the bricks. They also managed to dig up my neighbors grass on her pavement in neat mats that they could put back just as neatly, but the pair digging the trench on my side went pick mad and dug the grass up in clumps, most of which got blown away in the heavy wind last week and what didn't died off because instead of coming back to lay the grass back neatly they, as i mentioned above, ******ed off for most of the week. now im left with a long sandy area on my pavement that they have also managed to sweep most of the rock and stone into the top off which means the surrounding grass roots cant take hold and i will have to put down topsoil and new grass in at my own expense or live with a sandy pebble filled trench. Directly next to the trench they dug we have a garden bed where we have been planting brush cherry trees to grow as hedges around our property wall. These cost about R120 each, and the pair who dug the trench instead of throwing the soil onto the grass on the other side of the trench instead buried some of our smaller trees by stupidly throwing the soil into the garden beds. some of those trees have now died and need to be replaced again at MY expense. They pair of idiots also managed to dig up a concrete utility cable marker that they didn't put back which could cause further problems when digging or doing maintenance somewhere down the line. because i live on a corner i have a second tarred driveway that they have filled back in but haven't re tarred, so every time somebody comes in through that driveway the sand gets pushed further down in places and the trench becomes deeper.

beside costing me personally what now adds up to about R2500 for new lawn and topsoil, concrete mix i had to buy to fill in the gaps in my paving and the replacement for my dead trees,They have also left open holes around some of the cable connections that are fairly deep and because i live across the road from a primary school my neighbors have had to chase small children out of some of these holes while they play outside waiting fro their lifts after school in the afternoon. If one of these children gets injured playing in these holes vumatel could potentially and quite deservedly have a lawsuit on their hands.

Vumatel has also cleverly protected themselves from any complaints such as this, by not providing an email address by which i can submit my photos of their sloppy work to. Since none of their workers have been around the entire gerdview/ Sunnyridge area for the last week, i have not been able to ask one of them if i could voice my dispute to a supervisor and as of 07:00 this morning when i left for work there were still no workers about so i instead opted to write this review .
