Monopolizing fibre access through Body Corporate contracts
Recently moved into a new apartment and am shocked to hear that we only have the option of Vumatel because they made the Body Corporate sign a 5 YEAR agreement to not let other fibre companies set up in the complex.
This is absolutely disgusting business practice because they know how ridiculously expensive they are compared to other fibre companies. Where is the competitive fairness in that? On principle I will be sure to move as soon as the 5 years elapse. You should get customers because of the quality of your service, not through monopolizing through contracts. Telkom will charge R399 for an Openserve 25mb fibre, versus Vumatel R699 for only 10mb fibre. We have never had problems with Openserve at our old place - so how do you reason the absolutely ******** Vumatel pricing?
And why would an ISP randomly charge more for your product compared to other FNOs if you aren't charging them more?
