Vodacom Online Sales Experience unacceptable
I ordered an iPhone on contract through Vodacom’s online sales. My application was approved, and I received a DebiCheck request on my banking app, which I approved immediately.
After hearing nothing for 4 days, I called Vodacom to follow up and was told my DebiCheck had not been approved. I checked my banking app while on the call and could clearly see it was approved. The consultant asked me to approve it again when they resent it, which I did while still on the phone. They confirmed they could see the approval.
Two days later, I still hadn’t heard anything, so I called again. This time, the consultant told me they could see the DebiCheck on their side and that, since I am an existing client, I shouldn’t have needed to approve one in the first place. She also told me not to approve any further DebiCheck requests that might come through. At that point, I was told the phone was out of stock but that new stock would arrive within 5 days.
Five days later, I called again for an update — only to be told that my DebiCheck had not been approved and that the entire order had been cancelled.
This experience has been extremely frustrating. The lack of communication and the conflicting information from different consultants makes the process feel disorganized and unreliable. It’s easy to understand why so many people are moving away from Vodacom to other service providers that offer more consistent and dependable service.
I physically went into a Vodacom store and signed a contract there. The store confirmed that the online order was cancelled. Despite this, the following week I started receiving SMS notifications stating that SKynet would be delivering a phone for an online order that was supposedly already cancelled.
I contacted Vodacom again and was told I must simply “reject the order” upon delivery. This is extremely frustrating, as I now have to remain available to receive calls or deliveries in order to reject something that should not exist in the first place.
Today I have yet again received another SMS stating that SKynet has my order. Twice in a row? This process is completely disorganised and unprofessional and the controls are clearly lacking in terms of your sales and dispatch space.
Please escalate this properly and ensure that the online order is fully cancelled in your systems and with SKynet, so that no further SMS notifications or delivery attempts are made.

I am also concerned that the email is requesting confirmation on which deal should be cancelled, despite multiple calls and notes already being made on the matter. It is unclear how these notes are being recorded, where they are stored, and why they do not appear to be noted in the ongoing handling of the issue.
