Excessive Charge to repair Fibre cable

Dear TT Connect Team,

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received following a disruption to my Fibre connection. On the 16th of August 2024, at approximately 11h00, a contractor working at my home accidentally cut through my Fibre cable. I immediately contacted your customer service team to request a repair, fully expecting a prompt response. However, when I followed up at around 14h30, I was informed by your maintenance department that no one would be dispatched until Monday, the 19th of August—three days later. When I inquired about the possibility of a Saturday repair, I was told that your technicians do not like to work on weekends. This left me without an internet connection for an entire weekend, which, in today's world, is not just an inconvenience but a significant disruption. To make matters worse, when your team finally arrived on Monday, they discovered that the cable required re-splicing, resulting in an additional delay. In total, I was without internet for four days. As if this were not frustrating enough, I was charged a staggering R 3,450.00 for the repair. While I understand that the initial damage was caused by my contractor, I find it unacceptable that I had to wait four days for a repair and then be charged such a high fee with no alternative or competitor that I could get a quote from. Complete monopoly. The lack of urgency shown by your team and the unwillingness to work on weekends demonstrate a disregard for customer service. This entire experience feels like a complete abuse of power, as I am bound by contract to rely on your services and am therefore forced to accept both the delay and the excessive charge. Given the circumstances, I strongly urge you to review your policies regarding repair response times, particularly on weekends, and consider a more reasonable fee structure for repairs caused by unavoidable accidents. Good morning John.
I trust you are well.
We do apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please note that we do, however, have an SLA of 5 days for a cable break, meaning we were still within the SLA period for a break-fix.
As your contractors damaged the cable, you will, unfortunately, be held accountable for the refloat and resplice of that line.
I will, however, discuss the matter further as to why you were told the technicians don't like to work over weekends, as we do have technicians who work over weekends. It is important to note that we do schedule our technicians in advance. I understand the frustration of being without internet as everything we do is dependent on it, and truly do apologize.

Kind Regards

TT Connect

But you have said nothing about the exorbitant cost - secondly speaking to some friends they state that the cable should be 300 mm into the ground - this cable was no deeper than 100mm.

Please note that we do not bill you as the client, we bill your ISP. They will bill you in return should they see fit.

Please note that we are an FNO and not an ISP. The ISP is our client, and you are theirs; hence, we bill them. It's not a cop-out; it's just stating the actual facts. Please note that it is not TT Connect billing you. Your statements should show that it comes from your ISP.

So what do I have a TT Connect - Job Card No. 16521 that indicates the price of R 3000 and a 2nd TT Connect Job card No. 1*** with a massive TT Connect logo on the Job Card that indicates a billing of R 3450-00 ?
So if I understand correctly you do not "Bill" Fredd the same amount - so what do you charge Fredd then ?

Good morning.

Correct. You sign off on our billable job card. We, in turn, send it to your ISP. You are welcome to copy Fredd into the correspondence, as they are 100% aware of the process. Unfortunately, I can not discuss billable amounts between us and our ISPs on our infrastructure.
