Toshiba really don't care

<p>In 2004 I bought a beautifully designed OCZ Rally 2Gb (laugable by today's standards) USB stick. It came with a lifetime warranty.</p> <p> </p> <p>In 2013 OCZ went belly-up, was bought by Toshiba, and an email to them confirmed my worst fears:</p> <p><quote></p> <p>Eric Ryder rep****:<br />Hello Robert,</p> <p>I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with your OCZ Technology product.</p> <p>Unfortunately we are not able to offer you warranty services for this item. Your product has been manufactured and sold by OCZ Technology Inc. which filed bankruptcy in late 2013.<br /> Toshiba does not provide any warranty on the former OCZ Technology, Inc. flash drives, memory, or cooling products.</p> <p>I’m sorry for not being able to help you with this case.<br /> Please let me know if you have any other questions.</p> <p>Thank you.</p> <p></quote></p> <p> </p> <p>Obviously, they liked the technology, or just the name, but dont give a sh*t about the former customers!</p> <p> </p> <p>I suggested tToshiba sent me a Toshiba USB stick as replacement (now how much would that cost to avoid being exposed here), and this was the reply:</p> <p><quote></p> <p>Eric Ryder rep****:<br />Hello Robert,</p> <p>The OCZ Technology drive that you currently have has no support structure anymore since the company went bankrupt in late 2013.<br /> Toshiba purchased the remains of the company but the warranty on those products no longer exists.<br /> I am sorry for not being able to help with this case.</p> <p></quote></p> <p> </p> <p>'nuff said!</p>
