Toshiba Printers Durban - Don't be conned

Last year we acquired a printer from Toshiba with a service agreement over a period. During our purchase of the printer, we were misinformed of the cost of purchasing the printer outright by the sales agent and were conned into believing that purchasing it over the period was similar in price to buying the machine outright.

During an audit by our accountant we found that the actual cost of the printer is around R12000 and we would be paying closer to R50000 for said printer. During our negotiations we were told the cost of the printer was around R45000 to buy it outright.

Now that we've found the issue, Toshiba representatives are not giving us a fair settlement and ducking and diving in coming back to sort this issue out.

I am at fault for putting trust in the Toshiba name with the understanding that the figures presented to me would be accurate. The salesperson who misrepresented the costs to us no longer works there and Toshiba does not care to come to the party to please a customer. it seems they will say ANYTHING to complete the sale and tie you down to a contract you cannot get out of.

Excersize extreme caution when dealing with Toshiba and if you have an existing contract, go and look at the costs of the machine and the price you're paying. You will not be pleased.
