Inconsistent/Poor Internet Speeds
I’ve had this problem on and off since installation, I’ve logged countless tickets for the same issue, field technicians have been sent to out at least twice (first to replace the antenna and router, and most recently to attempt switching the direction of the antenna to a different high site of which there was no line-of-sight to either of the alternatives) and the problem still persists. The tech support team have app**** “temp fixes” on numerous occasions by remotely switching my connection to a less congested AP (which works well, but only for a few days at most). It seems as though the high site I’m connected to has a limited amount of APs for the amount of households connecting to them, so every time someone complains about their internet connection, they are moved to a less congested AP until those APs eventually become congested, which creates an endless cycle of having to log tickets every few days when the AP I’m connected to becomes congested, so they can move me to a less congested AP. The worse part is, the connection is always particularly poorer in the evening/at night and weekends (which makes sense because most people are at work and school weekdays during the day, so there aren’t many households drawing any bandwidth weekdays from around 08:00 till around 18:00, but then consumption spikes in the evening and weekends when most people are home and using the internet) and when a ticket is logged in the evening, no one gets back to you until at least the following day, then the person who calls you isn’t even a technician, but someone from customer support who can’t even help and you have to wait at least another day or 2 for tech support to follow up. All I’m asking for is a stable internet connection with consistent data transmission speeds without having to log a ticket every few days. For context, I pay R395.00 for uncapped 20Mbps down and up, and hardly ever get close to the promised speeds. If I’m lucky, it may average around 14-16Mbps, but most times it’s way below even 10Mbps (with only 1 device connected)
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and honest account of your experience. We can clearly see the level of frustration you’ve been facing and we want to start by sincerely apologizing for the ongoing issues and the lack of a permanent resolution. It’s clear that we’ve fallen short of both technical reliability and timely support, particularly during peak hours when a stable connection matters most. We also appreciate you pointing out what seems to be a congestion management loop that’s only shifting the problem rather than solving it. Your observations about AP load balancing and usage patterns during evenings and weekends are insightful, and we’re escalating this to our network operations team for a proper review of your local high site’s capacity and AP distribution.
We have liaised with the technical team and they have proposed 8th September 2025 for your wifi maintenance. Please confirm if we can go ahead and book it.
We genuinely value your patience, your clear feedback, and the opportunity to make this right, not just for now, but permanently.
Best regards,
