1 star is sadly more than they deserve - I bought a car for cash in Jan and everything took ages - harassed about an ID scan which they had already received and paid for a towbar I never got! The car has been back a few times and each time there is some BS excuse - didn’t have stock , wrong towbar, don’t have a drill that can drill through the steel etc etc. My office staff have followed up, my partner has, I have and 7 months down the line no towbar. I wish I had never bought a car from them - run for the hills if you are considering dealing with them - pathetic non-existent service and ****y too!

I had a very disappointing experience with Thorp Plumbstead during the purchase of my vehicle. During the purchase process, I provided the dealership with details and documentation confirming that I had comprehensive insurance cover, including credit shortfall cover. This was provided as part of the vehicle finance/purchase process. About a month later, I noticed a debit coming off my bank account. Fortunately, I happened to check my transactions and traced the debit back to Gaurdrisk. I then discovered that a credit shortfall policy had apparently been taken out on my behalf — despite the fact that I already had this cover through my own insurance and had not requested or agreed to this additional policy. I contacted Gaurdrisk (which was a mission tacking down on its own), who informed me that the cover had been initiated by the seller and had apparently been in place since the vehicle was purchased. I requested that the policy be cancelled and that the funds already deducted be reimbursed. Gaurdrisk cancelled the policy but advised me that I needed to deal with the dealership regarding the reimbur*****t. This is where the experience became even more frustrating. I have now been going back and forth with Thorp Plumbstead for months. They are extremely difficult to get hold of by phone, and most of the communication has been through emails. When I followed up, I was told that they could see the policy had been cancelled. However, when I asked for the money that had been debited from my account to be reimbursed, I was told that I needed to provide proof of my insurance cover because they apparently don't have the documentation on record. This is particularly frustrating because I provided this information during the purchase process. You are not allowed to drive the vehicle away without the required insurance documentation, yet somehow the dealership apparently no longer has the proof that was provided to them. It is incredibly easy for an additional service to be initiated and for money to be deducted from a customer's bank account, but apparently extremely difficult to reimburse the customer when the service was not requested and should not have been necessary in the first place. Months later, I am still waiting for my money to be reimbursed. For me, the biggest issue isn't only the money. It's the lack of communication, the difficulty getting answers, and having to repeatedly chase the dealership to resolve something that should never have happened in the first place. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone purchasing a vehicle from this dealership carefully check their bank statements and all additional products or services attached to their vehicle purchase. Don't assume that everything is exactly as you agreed to.

On the 5 th of June 2026 we got the car and thats the same day car tracker installed the tracker. On the 10 th of June the camera was also installed by cartracker. By the 17June 2026 the car started showing faults, auto hold failure, hill start assistant control failure, ica failure. We then took the car to the dealer they said they cant get hold of cartrack and that we should bring the car the next day. The 22 June 2026 we decided to go till there and they told us the car tracker guy is there and that its sorted we just had to wait on the workshop technician to check everything. After few hours of waiting the floor manager explain that car track installed the camera wrong and that the body module was damage. They also explained that they will replace the part and cartrack will cover the bill and that we shouldnt worry about anything. Till this day we struggling to get any feed back from cherry. The manager will just respond by telling us that he will get back to us bit never do. We tired and frustrated because this is a new car. We didnt even make the first payment yet. The are very unprofessional they they treating us. We dont even feel like we want this car anymore. So please advise a way forward. Thank you Formal Complaint – Defective Vehicle and Poor Customer Service To: Cherry Plumstead Management Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my new 2026 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro 1.5, which I took delivery of on 5 June 2026. On the day of delivery, Cartrack installed the vehicle tracking system. On 10 June 2026, Cartrack also installed the vehicle camera. On 17 June 2026, only twelve days after taking delivery of the vehicle, multiple warning messages appeared on the dashboard, including: Auto Hold Failure Hill Start Assist Control Failure ICA Failure I immediately contacted the dealership and took the vehicle in for inspection. Initially, I was informed that the dealership could not get hold of Cartrack and was asked to bring the vehicle back the following day. On 22 June 2026, we returned to the dealership. We were advised that the Cartrack technician was on-site and that the issue had been resolved, pending final checks by the workshop technician. After waiting for several hours, the floor manager informed us that Cartrack had incorrectly installed the camera, resulting in damage to the vehicle's Body Control Module. We were assured that the damaged part would be replaced, that Cartrack would cover all costs, and that we had nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, since then we have struggled to obtain any meaningful feedback from Cherry Plumstead. Each time we contact the dealership, the manager advises that he will get back to us, but he never does. We have been left without clear communication, updates, or a timeframe for the repair. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. This is a brand-new vehicle, and we have encountered serious faults before even making the first monthly payment. The lack of communication and professionalism shown by the dealership has caused us to lose confidence in both the vehicle and the service we have received.

Exceptional service from start to finish, 👌 👏 😍 This wasn’t my first car purchase overall, but it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Special shoutout to Robin Bezuidenhout for the detailed explanation of the car and making everything clear with no surprises. The deal was great, and the petrol voucher included was a nice bonus. Highly recommend!

I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I have received from Thorp Plumstead regarding my brand new Chery Tiggo Cross, which I purchased in January 2026. Since taking delivery, the vehicle has had multiple issues, including electrical faults and an abnormal noise when starting. I reported these problems promptly, expecting efficient and professional after-sales support. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. The vehicle was booked in for inspection, but communication from Thorp Plumstead has been poor and inconsistent. I have had to continuously follow up, and despite being patient and accommodating, I am still waiting for clear feedback on what the actual problem is and when it will be resolved. It is unacceptable that a brand new vehicle has defects and that the dealership fails to provide timely updates or a proper diagnosis. As a customer, I expect transparency, urgency, and accountability none of which I have experienced so far. This entire experience has been frustrating and stressful. I would not recommend Thorp Plumstead based on the lack of service delivery and poor communication. I urge management to address this matter urgently and improve their customer service, especially when dealing with brand new vehicles under warranty.

I bought a Chery Tiggo on January 14 .2026 and still have neither registration papers nor disc. Promises made that papers will be dropped off at my house, yet hasn’t happened. Then I was told, that papers were dropped off at Suzuki Blouberg, yet when I went there, papers weren’t found. Again I was promised, that papers will be dropped off as soon as foundnyet didn’t happen. Called this morning, promised call back from the receptionist, hasn’t happened. How did this shoddy operation become so big? They have no ethics, are in vile competition with their own branches, use customers as pawns to make sales and that’s the last you will ever hear from them. Despicable attitude in every branch I dealt with. Table Bay Mall,Plumstead,Blouberg.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and the ongoing delay regarding a refund that was due over a week ago. Despite my multiple attempts to resolve this privately, the communication has been unacceptably poor: Broken Promises: I was originally told the refund would be processed by Wednesday, 18 February. Lack of Accountability: After several ignored emails, I was finally told on Friday (20th) that they were "following up." No further updates were provided until I had to escalate the matter myself. Vague Timelines: On the 24th, I was assured by staff that a manager promised the matter would be settled "before the end of this week." As of today, Friday, 27 February, I still have no confirmation of payment or a proof of payment (POP). While I have tried to remain patient, being forced to constantly chase my own money is exhausting. A dealership's reputation is built on how they handle issues, and right now, Thorp GWM Haval Plumstead | GWM Haval is failing. To the Management: Please stop offering vague assurances and provide a proof of payment immediately. I should not have to resort to public reviews and formal channels to get a response on a simple refund.

Poor salesman behavior We were looking to purchase a Haval Joilion on Tuesday, and we decided to go to your Plum stead branch What a disaster, there were 8 salesman and NOT ONE approached me to assist. Disgusting, was I not dressed up enough or what could be the problem? Unprofessional and clearly, they were not interested in a sale. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE I shall not return. Guess what a family member of mine had the same experience at this Branch? Is this a WHITES ONLY service? I guess you better PULL UP your socks as tis is very poor for the BRAND Your loss
