Z10 Damaged, no assistance

My father reported his Blackberry Z10 on 11/02/2015 as it suddenly wouldn't come on. It had no problems previously and just crashed without no warning. Telkom Mobile merely told him his warranty for the phone was 12 months, due to the fact that the period has exceeded he will have to fix the phone himself. His contract for the mobile expiring in Nov 2015.

After going to several repair shops, all of them informed him that the reason the Z10 had been discontinued on the market was due to this common problem. it cannot be repaired. He is paying close to R1 400 a month for his contract and is basically paying for the sim card and not the cellphone which was advertised when taking the contract. This is a notorious problem for Z10's and being that he has a continuous contract with Telkom mobile, should they not reconsider the issue of a replacement, especially when the problem on these cellphones is well known and he has been a great client. He is not getting his full benefits and now has to purchase a new cell in order to be able to use his contract benefits. It's not acceptable that clients are given phones which develop issues and are known and not sympathised upon.
