Wrongful Debt Collection and PERSONAL information handover!

I have had the displeasure of being handed over to debt collectors due to a major mess up within Telkom. I took out be on a cellphone contract on or about August 3rd telephonically!! I confirmed my bank account details and subsequent approved a debicheck on my ABSA account. I wasn’t debited in August and September so early October I call in to find out why I hadn’t been debited and I was told they attempted to collect the debit order but was unsuccessful, I told the agent that wasn’t possible because I knew I had more than enough to cover the debit order. She also said they had try to contact me but that wasn’t true because I’ve never received an email, call or sms from Telkom letting me know they were unable to collect the debit order. I asked her to confirm the bank they had debited and it turns out that it wasn’t the account I gave the sales representative during the call and approved a debicheck on. I asked her to update my details as they also had the wrong contact details for me! She asked to hold while she sorts this out, but she them dropped the phone.

Now TELKOM has wrongfully handed personal information over to NUDEBT because they have *********** staff that record incorrect information.

NUDebt has contacted me and claimed Telkom has claimed to be unsuccessful in their attempt to collect the debit order and that I have Ignored and refused to pay after several attempts to contact me, which is a lie because Telkom has no proof of contacting on my registered number before and after I called in to enquire on them not debiting my account . Even after my attempt to provide the correct banking details, no one called follow up after the agent dropped the phone.

I have been violated and my personal information wrongfully handed over to debt collectors, this reflects badly on my credit report and I will be seeking legal advice on how to best deal with TELKOM wrongfully and ********ly handing my personal information, due to their own internal mess up.
