Wrong information to customer

I app**** for a prepaid line to be converted to a post paid line an then ADSL on the 5th of August. Nina was very enthusiastic to sell me Telkom ADSL since my intention was to go to MWEB. Even though I opted to go for the month-to-month option she ensured me that the modem is for free, I confirmed this more than once.
This morning I was informed by the Call Centre that I have to buy the modem and I went to the Cresta branch again, only to be informed by another employee that it is indeed free.

I asked to speak to the manager to clear up the confusion and he then said I have to buy the modem. What is wrong with Telkom ? How can employees provide different information on the same product. If I was told by Nina in the first place that I have to buy the modem I would have gone the MWEB route, because theirs is for free.

Telkom, please train your employees properly, they don't have a clue what the products are all about !!

If my relationship with Telkom starts like this, I don't see much hope for the future. Thank God I did not sign a 24 month contract.
