Worst Service Received

On the 27th of Oct 2016 I requested my telephone and ADSL to be relocated to a new address. I will not bore you with the number of people I had to speak to in order to get this logged. At some point I was even informed that it could take up to 21 days for this request to be actioned!

Last week Friday, I got a message from my brother who has nothing to do with my account with Telkom informing me that their Technician would be coming on the 16th Nov 2016 to install the lines. No-one contacts me on my number in spite of me updating my contact number each time I call 10210.

15 working days letter today the 16th Nov 2016 I call 10210 to check if there will be a Technician coming to install the lines. The Consultant who takes my call verifies my details yet again and informs me that indeed I am scheduled to have my lines installed today. "When will it happen more or less?" I ask noticing that it is mid day already. Her response "It's still early now, they will come today still as they (Technicians) are working between 7:30 and 16:00" she tells me. At this point I'm not sure if she is listening to what she is saying to me as it sure sounds like she is not. I verify and she confirms that today is THE day.

I carry on with my day and at about 16:45 I realise that no-one from Telkom has contacted me. I follow up with yet another call at 17:58. My gosh - by 17:45 I had spoken to 4 Consultants - Mandisa, Lindelwa and Sibusiso including one who claimed to be a Team Leader named Samke only for her to tell me that she needs to log an escalation for my issue but it will not be resolved today as the Technicians are not available after hours. Lindelwa and Mandisa managed to cut my call which was very very upsetting a I had been put on hold indefinitely while they try and figure out what is going on with my request.

Lindelwa did call me back only to inform me that she cannot get hold of the assigned Technician as he is rejecting her calls. At that point I had called yet again and had put Sibusiso on hold in order to take Lindelwa's call which I had to end for obvious reasons - nothing she said was solving my issue.

What I want to know from Telkom is the following:

1. Is it difficult to action a request from the time it was logged until the customer is happy without the customer having to call numerous times to follow up only to be given vague answers?

2. Is this a training issue - incompetence, attitude from their staff or both that we as paying customers must endure such appalling service?

3. When it comes to issuing the invoice without fail Telkom is very prompt but feet are dragged when it comes to the service delivery. Why is this?

I am not expecting an answer anytime soon from Telkom as they are never in a hurry to serve nor treat customers with respect.

Let's not even go to the level of professionalism in the employees who talk so loudly in the background about anything and everything including trips to the loo to lunch shopping, their doctor's visits etc. (Sounds like a taxi rank scenario not an office with professionals) as you hold on the line while their colleague is still battling to solve your query...

I just had to put this here instead of venting to those close to me who by now are fully aware of how appalling Telkom's service is

WHY????
