WORST SERVICE IN THE WORLD BROUGHT TO YOU BY TELKOM

I upgraded my Telkom package from a 15GB+15GB to a 30GB +30GB package in November last year. The router I got as part of the package was the Huawei B315. This was meant to be a LTE package but most days I would only get 1Mbps and maybe 2Mbps on a really good day. Also, the router went faulty 3 times in less than 5 months of having the new package. I obviously returned the router to Telkom Cresta the 1st time and they gave me a loan unit whilst waiting for a replacement one. The replacement unit (same model) only worked for 1 and half months before going faulty again. I complained to Telkom Cresta that I was not satisfied with the quality of the router and asked that they give me a different model as replacement. The technician who assisted me at Telkom Cresta also confirmed that they had many returns on this router model and that the old model Huawei B385 actually worked better than the new model. I know this for a fact as the loan unit given to me was the old model B385. I spoke to the Cresta Telkom Manager and insisted that they give me a different router model as replacement and not the same model, but this did not happen. I was still given the same model i.e. B315.

After logging multiple complaints with Telkom about the poor internet signal in my area, and not a single phone call from Telkom to try to resolve my problem, I decided to cancel my contract on the 15th of May 2016 as I was paying for LTE and not getting LTE speed. The agent at Telkom Cresta inquired as to why I want to cancel and when I explained to him that I am not getting LTE speed he decided to check the coverage in my area on his PC and advised me that there was no LTE coverage where I was staying. This came as a shock to me as I was told that there was coverage upon upgrading my contract to 30GB + 30GB, so all along I was paying for LTE when there was no LTE coverage in my area. This is obviously breach of contract on Telkom's part. I then filled out a cancellation form at Telkom Cresta on the 15th of May 2016. I subsequently ended up in Hospital and was in no a position to follow up on my cancellation request. Months went by with absolutely no communication or phone calls from Telkom. My contract had not been cancelled and I was still being billed.

My 1st follow up attempt after returning from hospital was on the 29th of July 2016. I spoke to Usavia and then to Sibusiso and explained my whole story to them. Sibusiso had sent an email to the person handling my case in the cancellation department, her name is Zipho. Sibusisio assured me that a technician would be dispatched to my premises within 3-4 business days. This did not happen.

A technician was only dispatched to my premises on the 30th of August, a month later. Technician name is Senzo. Senzo confirmed that there was in fact a signal problem where I was staying and he forwarded his findings to the cancellation department. It is at this point that the cancellation department was supposed to contact me to finalise the cancellation. I was contacted on the 2nd of September but my phone was not near me and I unfortunately missed their call. I immediately called back the same day at 10h30am requesting that the cancellation department call me back but this did not happen. I then called again at 13h30pm the very same day, again requesting that the cancellation department call me back, but they did not.

Upon following up again 1-2 days later I was advised that my case had been closed as they could not reach me on my phone. I was totally shocked and furious about this as Telkom had only made 1 attempt to contact me and simply decided to close my case (case no. ********** 9) without my permission and without resolving my case.

I called Telkom again at about 16h30 on the 5th of September, and spoke to Eusebia and asked to be transferred to the available manager (his name is Tremaine). Tremaine had already finished work by that time so I left a message for him to contact me back.

Two weeks went by and not a single phone call from Tremaine or anyone else from Telkom.

I then called Telkom at 14h45 on the 19th of September and got through to a guy called Lucas. I asked Lucas to get Tremaine to call me back as he was not available to take my call. Tremaine did not call me back. I called Telkom again on the 20th of September and was transferred to Toni Venter (supervisor). Toni sent an email to Zipho at the cancellation department. 1 week went by and no news from anyone at Telkom.

I called Telkom again at 14h56 yesterday (2016-10-06) and got through to Dumelo. I asked Dumelo to transfer me to Toni Venter but Toni was busy with an escalation and could not take my call. After holding on the phone for Toni for quite a long time I decided to leave a message for her to call me back knowing that she probably would not call me back. I also sent Toni an email at 16h12 same day requesting that she urgently contact me and provide me with feedback as to when the cancellation will be processed.

One day later and I still haven’t received a phone call from Toni or anyone else at Telkom.

A second technician by the name of Thoba was dispatched to my premises on 11th October. After running multiple tests and changing settings he couldn't fix the signal problem. Thoba assured me that I would be contacted within the week and another technician would be dispatched to either install a poynting antenna or he/she would provide some other solution. I suspect that someone from Telkom might have tried to call me on the 13th of October but I'm not entirely sure as I did not recognise the number as a Telkom number. I haven't had any missed calls after the 13th. My contract has still not been cancelled. This is really becoming ridiculous now and I will not stand for this any longer. I will address this with Carte Blanche and 3rd degree as well as every other form of media if my contract is not cancelled by end of this month and all my payments refunded.

Got a call from some lady at Telkom two days ago and she wanted to send another technician out to my premises. Three technicians have already been out to my premises and all confirmed that there is a problem with the signal where I am staying and not one of the technicians could fix the problem. I told the lady that I simply want my contract cancelled. My contract is still not cancelled and Telkom is still debiting me 7 MONTHS LATER since I requested cancellation.

Last communiction received was a phone call from Kgoagelo in Telkom Pretoria cancellation department on the 21st November and she assured me that cancellation would be processed. I returned the router together with sim at Telkom Cresta Shopping Centre the very same day and still my contract is not cancelled and I am still being billed.

I logged another case at Telkom Cresta for cancellation around the 8th of December. New case number ********** 7.

Called Telkom number 081 180 today and spoke to Ronaldo Meyer and he escalated the matter to the cancellation department for the millionth time.
