Worst customer service I've ever experienced!

I'm writing this because I have exhausted all avenues with regards to getting this account: ********** 95004 cancelled.

I have phoned and emailed Telkom many, many times since December 2016. I have gone to various Telkom shops. Each time I contact Telkom they says there is no record of my calls or emails though I have followed Telkom's own cancellation policy correctly according to their terms.

I have not been living at the property since January 2015, and Telkom have as of yet REFUSED to cancel the account and continue to bill me monthly.

2nd December:
I sent through a line/account cancellation request with all the required documents ********** I received an email back from your automated system stating that the my request was acknowledged.

16th January:
I contacted Telkom requesting an update on this cancellation as we were billed for a month of service after we had sent through the cancellation request. I received no correspondence or feedback to my update request.

I called and was told to resend the cancellation request, which I did - this time ********** He confirmed he receieved my email and request and promised to handle the cancellation request.

A few days later we were advised that the account couldn't be cancelled because it wasn't signed by myself but on my behalf (to which I consented).

I immediately filled in the correct form, attached a copy of my ID, emailed the email address as per cancellation procedure. We paid cancellation fee, and now Telkom claims was the last instalment and not the actual cancellation fee.

A month later and the line STILL hasn't been cancelled and I receive notice from a debt collector. Telkom said the problem was that because the line was suspended, they couldn't cancel it and I would need to pay fees incurred by Telkom's incompetance - fees I don't actually owe - so they can reactivate the account in order to cancel it (paying to reactivate an account I'm desperately trying to cancel - the irony!)

I was promised by a Telkom manager that the issue would be dealt with immediately and the debt collectors notified to stop proceedings but this was not dealt with as promised and due to Telkom's absolute incompetence, I have now been placed on the Adverse Credit listing, and marked as "high risk" which now means that if I was to apply for credit at any organization I would be denied. I was harassed daily by the debt collectors to pay this outstanding amount otherwise my listing would lead to court action.

I tried to contact Telkom countless times again after this to no avail, no one could assist me until this outstanding amount was paid.

I was forced to withdraw from my loan (incurring further costs) to pay an amount I don't owe. Despite doing this - the account has STILL not been cancelled and I am still being billed.

On the 27th of March I also sent through another cancellation request email this time signed by myself and I'm yet to hear anything. I have now received a further Invoice from Telkom requesting a payment of R1,573.64 (4 months worth of outstanding balances), which I refuse to pay because this line should have been cancelled months ago and these costs should never have been incurred! I have STILL not heard anything back!

We have adhered to all of Telkom's cancellation policies correctly, therefore Telkom is now in breach of contract. Holding a person hostage to an account they are entitled by law to cancel is completely unacceptable.

Having spoken to friends and colleagues, I have also come to realise I am sadly not alone in this exact situation. Friends have shared they have tried to cancel, have moved months ago, and like us, Telkom has "no record" of the cancellation and refuse to cancel the account whilst still billing.

I urge anyone considering getting a telephone line with Telkom to seriously consider alternative options - unless you're prepared to pay monthly fees for life and have credit agencies harassing you!

This entire ordeal has contributed to a lot of stress not to mention frustration and anxiety which in turn has led to anger because I'm being penalized for a ***** up on Telkom end.

This is by far the most unpleasant customer service experience I have ever had to endure, absolutely shocking service!

Please have a manager contact me ASAP so that this issue can be resolved in a professional manner.

It's been 5 days without a reply as to whether this has now been resolved?!

Please have someone from your management team contact me ASAP.

Hi Telkom,

I am yet to hear anything back from yourselves regarding this matter.

I just received another call from this time from another collection agency advising me that there is an outsanding balance.

Your facebook support has advised that the account was marked as closed at the end of February and that the Telkom hellopeter team will provide me with furter feedback.

Could you please advise me on what exactly is happening, as I've made a payment to a previous collection agency due to your error and now I'm being asked to make another payment?

Please get back to me as soon as possible so that we can put this issue to rest?

Thanks.

K

I have now received 2 calls in 1 day for an outstanding payment to Telkom.

I am still awaiting feedback from Telkom as to this cancellation.
