Worst customer service ever!!

During August 2016 Telkom ran a promotion for a Huawei Mediapad T1 Pro 8” tablet with 500MB of data per month for R119. I app**** for the deal online on Telkom’s website on 24 August 2016. I was contacted by one of their consultants on 30 August 2016 to verify al my details telephonically. I was informed that a debit order for the amount of R119 would be deducted from my bank account before final approval of the contract can be given. The amount was deducted from my FNB bank account on 31 August 2016. This amount never reflected on any of my monthly statements received to date.

The device and the SIM card was delivered to me on 14 September 2016.

When I received my monthly statement on 6 October 2016 I notice that I was being charged R149 per month for the deal and not the R119 as was advertised. I contacted Telkom’s call centre several time regarding these issued and numerous requests have been logged to investigate and correct these matters but to no avail. One of the call centre consultants I spoke to even imp**** that it is my fault that I’m being charged the incorrect amount because I app**** for the deal so late in the month.

I’ve gone to the Telkom store at Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria and given them proof that the amount being charged is not correct but the store staff can’t do much more then to log a new request to be investigated. I have a reference number for a request logged on 6 December 2016 that still has not been finalised/signed off.

I’ve spoken to countless consultants at the billing and mobile sales departments. Many promises have been made to sort out these issues but to date nothing has been done. The money is taken from my bank account like clockwork every month.

I’ve spent the last six months begging and pleading with Telkom staff for assistance to rectify what seems to me as a simple mistake made when the contract was activated but nobody seems to be able or willing to do anything about this. Some of the consultants I’ve spoken to have admitted that the contract was mistakenly activated with the normal price code in September 2016 and not the promotional code that app**** in August 2016. Yet nobody seems to know how to fix this.

In conclusion Telkom took R119 from my bank account and it has never been credited to my account. They continue to take R30 per month more from my account than what was contractually agreed upon. In my opinion this constitutes theft.

I have now reached the end of my tether. If Telkom does not come to the party and fix these issues I will be forced to seek legal advice on the matter.

This is so tipycal of what Telkom does! They keep passing the problem from one person/department to the other but no-one ever takes responsiblity and actually solves the problem.
