Why Telkom? Only Suitably Qualified Senior Technical Personnel Need Reply

It's a simple enough question. Why is Telkom still unable to deliver the original performance it promised me when I first signed up for an ADSL line, and opted for it's "fastest" service? Since inception, which dates back a number of years now, I've struggled to receive good quality upload speed on my ADSL line. First Telkom said it was because I was on an 'old system'. Then they allegedly migrated me to a more 'modern system'. Nothing changed. My upload speed remained exceptionally poor. I've regularly logged my faults, had lengthy service disruptions during the 'technical repair processes' and it's cost me probably thousands of rands in phone calls, to try and get to the bottom of exactly what Telkom hasn't yet told me, about why their line they've sold me delivers such exceptionally poor upload speed. It's humanly impossible to find anyone telephonically capable or even willing to engage in a proper technical conversation, and when you wait 3 hours in a queue at a Telkom walk-in centre, all you get is the person behind the counter putting you back on the telephone which you could have done at home.

I would like to add, that another excuse Telkom gave me before was that the modem that they supp**** me, was in fact known to be a dysfunctional brand, and I was advised to buy my own modem from Incredible Connection. I followed Telkom's advise and spent R9000.00 on a new modem. Did it help? No.

No one from Telkom has contacted me directly as yet (13 April 15:14pm) An independent upload speed test revealed the following this to be my "best or fastest" performance on Telkom's line today.

Still no contact telephonically from Telkom. I've received SMS's to say there's an app I'm now required to access to see the progress with my line's fault. As a matter of interest, I'm trying to upload 4 files presently, 25.4MB + 0.93MB + 17.66MB + 30.81MB. Time required by Telkom to upload? 5 hours left !

Telkom, you sent me an SMS to access an app. You did not provide a login and password with that SMS. There is no where for me to register those details myself, and I therefore cannot access the app. What is going on with my fault? My service is still very poor, intermittently on and off and now long overdue resolution. A prompt response would be appreciated. Thank you.

I called and asked if I could get some clarity on why Telkom seems unable to rectify the problems with my ADSL performance. I was told that the line tested fine, but the Ports at the exchange were found to be problematic, and that the situation was still being investigated. I asked for another escalation and await news. Thur 4 May 11h55 Called 10217 and spoke to Joseph. I asked what the latest news is. He advised that in addition to the faulty port issue, apparently a cable fault has also been found now. A technician was given the faulty cable work this Monday, the 1st May. I mentioned that my service on the line was deteriorating, and that functionality was worse now that it was poor a month ago today when I first reported the fault. I also expressed my disappointment about no-one in Telkom reaching out to me during this past month, to keep me abreast of the efforts being made to address my fault on my business line. Joseph said he would send today's call to a senior official for review. I thanked him and ended the call.

After waiting for over 1 calendar month for Telkom to fix the technical problems they said they had with our service, which included faulty ports and a faulty line, this past Friday, the 5th of May, a telkom person arrived at our complex security and said he wanted to come in and test our line. I asked him why he wanted to test our line, when the faults reported were at the exchange? He said he didn't know anything about the faults at the exchange. I did not let him in, because it would have been a waste of my time to do so. It was patently obvious to me that Telkom doesn't know what is going on, and it's staff are not properly instructed about what's really going on either. Here are my line test results today, Saturday 6th May......I pay for a 10MB uncapped line, it costs me R1300.00 per month.
