When you want to get fleeced by dishonest wireless broadband service provider, choose Telkom
We were contacted by a Telkom rep by phone to take advantage of the October 2017 special of 10G wireless internet at R269 pm, which we agreed to because it was only R70 more than previous contract. In November we got billed a strange amount of R540-something, then R769 in December & again January. Going to Telkom in Kenilworth Centre, Cape Town yielded zero results - staff were disinterested, called the call centre at my insistence but hung up after a while. Got a cancellation form to complete, submitted it by email, got no response. Then went onto Telkom's wonderful live chat site where I got cut off twice by unhelpful operators. Eventually got an email telling me we'd be charged a cancellation fee in addition to having to pay the 2 years contract fees even though we told them repeatedly we were being charged a fee R500 higher than agreed upon, certainly NOT based on usage. We have not been sent a new contract to sign and Telkom claims a 3rd party is responsible. Don't know who to approach next because we've had no help from any of Telkom's usual service points. We want to cancel, we don't trust these ******* and I'd like to know, even if this was a so-called 3rd party that offered us the deal on Telkom's behalf, why does Telkom hand out their loyal customers' bank accounts willy nilly to ********* companies that disappear into thin air the moment you need to query something. We've cancelled our stop order at the bank without success because the ******* in question just nicely took back what was returned to us this month. Checking the website, Telkom's October special mentions 40G for the amount of R269 pm but all we've had was a bit of day time data for the 1st week of the month each time - a total *******. IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE WHO CAN ADVISE WHAT RECOURSE WE HAVE, PLEASE?
