What a sad company

Most complaints I notice are in respect of clients wanting to cancel their service...have you tried renewing/upgrading your current contract?

Since 29 February 2020 I have requested a renewal on a contract that has run its full term of 24 months. I found a suitable deal on the Telkom website under the “Clearance” banner and 2 days later a sales person contacted me and when she heard that I wanted an upgrade/renewal, she suggested I rather go to the Telkom store and request them to process the upgrade/ renewal on the “clearance” item I want as she only did new sales?!

Well...the patronizing & service deficient staff at the Telkom Direct store in the Clearwater Mall would not assist on the item as it was a “clearance stock” item sold via the Telkom online platform (mind you, the Telkom site does not stipulate that the offer is meant for only new clients - surely as a client I am able to choose what I want.

The staff member (I have not disclosed his name) did not afford me any opportunity to complete any of my sentences and kept saying, “let me explain something to you” ??? He refused to assist with my request or offer any advice or direction to how I would be able to obtain the offer through the contract renewal. Instead, kept pulling the strangest and most disinterested facial expressions while I tried get explain what I was told telephonically and all the while trying to get me to take a handset that would cost more and that I was not interested in owning. Patience is not my strongest trait, so the rest of the staff and clients in the store today heard my abrupt and dissatisfied response to the ‘service’ agent. Obviously thinking I was a just a bad customer.

Telkom’s track record has proven its inability to offer [at least satisfactory] service to the public, hence the multitude of complaints and bad media publicity the company continuously experiences. Telkom management has further proven that it is unable or unwilling to portray any form of good and ethical governance over its business.

Sad, another semi-‘SOE’ portraying its questionable standards and declining position in the SA market.

Telkom’s lack of quality staff and adequate management, even at senior level, will continue the company on the same decline it has always been on. The above statement may be a generalization but no matter which division, store or department you contact, a client will have the same sub-standard service experience! Try it and you’ll understand.
