Week with no internet - fault caused by Telkom!
Unnecessary negligence cost us R1200 in mobile data just to work!

On 9 February our internet at home stopped working. The next day I contacted Mweb who tried to reset the line and when that didn't work, they said I should test the router on another line. I did this and it worked fine. I called them again that day and they submitted a fault to Telkom.

On 16 February a technician came to the house and checked our line. He found that the fault was located 500 meters from the house. When he came back from locating the fault he said that who ever had worked at the switchboard the week before had damaged our line when putting the cover on, all while working on someone else's problem!

Working from home means that we HAVE to have internet to meet our deadlines. So, even though we pay for uncapped internet and data rental every month, we had to spend an extra R1200 on costly mobile data to get the work done. I understand when damages are caused by external factors, not the company providing the service.

The question is, will Telkom take responsibility for their own mistake and compensate us for the hassle, downtime and unnecessary expense or will they flake out and make some excuse?
