Warranty mot fulfilled on faulty Asus Fonepad
I bought a Asus fonepad on a 24 month contract with Telkom Mobile (this was a telephonic order and delivered to me).
After only 3-4 months of usage the charging port was faulty and it would not charge.
I called Telkom to to find out how the get this Asus tablet repaired and they sent me around circles as to who to contact. After over a month of queries I was eventually told to contact their service center platinum warranty.

After sending the item to them, I was told the charging port is warn out and I must pay R 2000 for repairs or If i decline the repairs I must pay R199 + Shipping (total over R550).
1. What happened to my 1 year warranty? I understand if I dropped the tablet and the screen was damaged, etc.
2. How can a charging port be \warn out"so quickly and why is this not under the warranty.
my current phone is over 2 years old and my previous tablet is over 4 years"
