WARNING: Telkom Charge Full Price for Services not Provided
I’m writing this as a warning, for anyone who wants to do business with them, that you must NEVER form a contract with Telkom as they will squeeze you of every cent even if they fail to provide any service. They will send debt collectors to threaten and harass you. I’m already in the process of cancelling all contracts with Telkom, including the ADSL and LTE they provided for my other premises.
Full story below...
In 2016 we found ourselves having difficulties with our ADSL and landlines. We phoned Telkom for a solution and they suggested that we make use of their LTE services. Knowing that the cellular signal in our area was poor, we informed the Telkom agent of this and asked if they’re absolutely certain that the LTE products would work on our premises. They told us that the LTE would work fine.
When we received the LTE routers, we found ourselves struggling to make a connection. We repeatedly phoned Telkom and told them of our problems, with the agents walking us through the same steps over and over to try resolve the issue. Eventually, they let us know that if the routers aren’t connecting then we likely have no coverage in our area…
With this in mind, we asked Telkom to terminate the contract. They ignored us and continued to debit our account, for months, until we finally blocked the debit order. We also returned both routers to Telkom, Carnival City.
Now Telkom has sent NuDebt to harass us for the money they apparently feel owed, for a service they did not provide. We contacted NuDebt and they said we need to visit Telkom’s offices in Pretoria to resolve this. We did so and were blocked at the gate.
I’m certain NuDebt and Telkom knew this would happen and so they’re basically just toying with us, having us waste an entire day driving up and down. We can’t contact anyone who can help us telephonically, since the Telkom and NuDebt operators on the phone insist there’s nothing they can do and refuse to connect us to someone who can.
So, we’re essentially blocked from talking to anyone who can handle our case by middlemen while they’re free to contact us directly and harass us with threats of being blacklisted.
