VERY SERIOUS BREACH OF CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT AND EVEN BASIC DECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I cancelled my Telkom ADSL line on 2 October 2017 and received an e-mail confirming cancelation. When messages on social media started surfacing about Telkom not cancelling accounts, I decided to contact them ‘just in case’ and discovered that I was still being billed!? They stopped sending me e-mail accounts / bills since the ‘cancelation’ (they changed the e-mail billing address back to an old e-mail address of mine!) so I had no idea of the continued billing.

The person helping me on 9 January 2018 then assured me that the account was closed and that they will pass credit. I would be sent a final account if anything was due (the notice month). Nothing happened and on 22 January 2018 I followed up with an e-mail and another phone call where I was assured of the same. The credits will be processed shortly and I will receive a final account. I called Telkom 3 further times in February and got the same story…

Then I received a SMS from NuDebt saying that my account was handed over and I was backlisted in March 2018! I came in contact with NuDebt immediately and after a long conversation agreed to pay the final bill just to move forward. Since then I have been struggling to remove the default from my credit record. Every time I call Telkom a different process is explained!!! The last one was to send an e-mail to ********** No response from them either.

Surely this cannot be a service any company should provide their customers! Never mind failing to follow the rule of law (NCA, CPA)!!!???
