Very Poor Service

On the 27 February 2021 I went to Telkom in City View, Durban to check on their specials. I found a deal that was suitable for my budget and filled in the application. This was a Lock Down special on the 'Uncapped Fibre'. A copy of my I.D was also taken .

On the 09 March 2021, I was contacted requesting a 3 month bank statement and a copy of my payslip. I felt this really ridiculous as I am currently an existing client of theirs and my account gets debited. I emailed the requested documents to the consultant.

3 days later and no response so I phoned the store and the consultant confirmed she had received the email.

Almost a month later, I contacted the store requesting as to why i have no feedback in regards to my application and I was told that the application was captured on an incorrect programme and had to be recaptured on the correct programme and I needed to wait for a call from the Installation Department, which never happened.

Into a month and a half of making several calls to the store, I was told that I needed to pay R700.00 deposit for the line. Initially of applying for the correct, there was no mention of any additional charges. I requested the bank details, so I could make the deposit and to date have not received it.

I had also made several calls to the Store Manager advising him the long waiting period that I was experiencing and he told me he will also look into the matter.

After 2 months and 1 week of waiting, I was told that I owed R402.00 for an account which I was not aware of in 2002. I had moved out the property and had requested the line be cancelled.

I then requested the bank details so I could pay the outstanding R402.00 and to date have not received it. I then received a call from a gentleman who had no idea as to why he was making the call. I had given him the complete story of the R402.00 and he stated he could not help me as their data only dates back to 2014.

After 2 months and 2 weeks, I was contacted the Manager and advised him that I just needed to know whether the application was approved or not. If approved, a date that the tech would be attending and if declined, a valid reason. The same day of speaking to the manager, I received a call from another gentleman who told me he will be trying his best to assist me as I had waited far too long now.

After calls being made and received from the new consultant, I was told the application had been approved and he managed to waiver the R402.00.

On the 16 May 2021, I received a call from the consultant stating he had tried his best to help but could not do anything more as he was told that there are no lines available for them to do the installation.

HOW CAN A CONTRACT BE APPROVED WITHOUT ALL THIS BEING CHECKED???

I then queried this and was told there was nothing he could do and t hat i needed to cancel the order and settle for something else. The amazing thing to this that all the reasonable specials could not be done but the most expensive deal could be done.

On the 17 May 2021, I saw another special which I found reasonable, so i phoned the store and spoke to the last consultant that was helping me. I then told him about the other special that I had seen and requested if that could be done. I was told that he will call me back in 10 to 15 minutes and to date, I am still awaiting the call.

Why does Telkom offer specials when they cannot provide the service?????
