I have a Telkom landline and ADSL account.

In December, Iwas contacted my a Telkom representative who came to my house and invited me to upgrade my ADSL line to 10GB. In return, he told me that I would receive a free router and DSTV Explora.

A few weeks later, I was called by Telkom and told my line had been upgraded, and I should go to the store to pick up my router and DSTV Explora. I also received e-mails stating that I would receive a free DSTV Explora with the upgrade. I then went to the store and was again told I would receive a free DSTV Explora. I was then given one (without even asking for it). The receipt showed it was free of charge and there was signs in the store saying persons who upgraded would receive the DSTV Explora for free.

I received my February bill and saw I was charged approximately R2000 for the DSTV Explora. I immediately called the call centre. The supervisor told me that this was a mistake - and that the IT department would correct it. They also told me they would put in a protection so that I am not disconnected.

Today, my account was suspended for failure to pay the amount for the DSTV Explora - as it was never rectified.
