Upgrading my phone

I have had the worst experience by Cape Gate mall Telkom mobile shop. Last week I went to have my Telkom mobile number unsuspensed and upgrade my phone to a Samsung Galaxy J7 as my previous phone had been ******.

I dealt with an agent, who's name I did not get. He told me I could not get my cell number unsuspended in the store. I informed him that the call centre told me that this could only be done in the store but he argued with me and sent me away to call the call centre. I called the call centre immediately and the consultant told me that she couldnt do it on her end and she had to escalate it to a different department which would call me back in 24 hours.

After the 24 hours I called again to find out the status of my query; only to be told again that there is no such escalation and this can only be done at the store. I returned to the store. This time I was dealing with an agent called Nicola. She told me the same thing to call the call centre. Luckily the agent sitting next to her knew how to do it showed her.

Afterward unblocking my line, Nicola proceeded to sign me up for the Samsung Galaxy J7 (gold in colour) as there were no black ones in the store. As she was doing this I was reading the in store magazine which showed that the phone came with a powerbank. I asked her about this and she then remembered this as well and went to get the powerbank as well. (Had I not said anything would she have remembered to give me the powerbank or taken it for herself?). Subsequent to this she checked the phone out on her system. Before she give me the phone and the powerbank, she realised that she checked out the phone with the wrong colour (ie balck which was not in the store). She asked her manager to fix this for her but they told me this couldnt be fixed in store and they had to send a request to IT to reverse the upgrade and then only once this was done, she could give me the phone. She informed me that this would take 24hours.

I returned to the store the next day, and nothing had been updated. Nicola promised to call me when she was done. I retuned today, 2 days later as I had received the phone call. I dealt with Jason and another guy called Nicolass this time round who informed me all was well and that I could get my new phone. Before Jason booked out my phone, Nicolas informed me that the Huawei phone was better as it had a 32gb on board memory vs the Sasmusng Galaxy J7 which only had 16 gb. I proceeded to take his advice and take the Hauwei with more on board memory, sacrificing my free powerbank and dual sim card functonality of the Samsung Galaxy J7.

After signing for the Huwaei P8, they switched it on and only to see that the phone only has a 16gb on board memory. Needless to say I was upset. I told them both to take the phone back as I didnt want it and give me Samsung Galaxy J7. They informed me that I could not as the phone had no cooling off period and that I would suffer a cancellation cost. So you can imagine how upset I was.

I have been de*****ed by the Telkom staff as they **** to me about the specs of the Huawei. Nicolas explained to me that Telkom orders their Huwaei phones from a supplier whom he is not aware off and sometimes the phones are 16gbs and sometimes they are 32gbs. So he was in effect telling me that I would be paying the same amount as someone with a better phone, (which I find to be ridiculous and *****lent). I signed up for a 32gb on board memory phone, which is what I want. I have been de*****ed and they are forcing this Hauwaei phone on me. I would like the following remedial action:

1. Take back the Hauwei phone they issued me without any cancellation costs for my account. Give me the Samsung Galaxy J7 phone (with powerbank) that I had initially signed up for with Nicola.

2. If not, give me a R50 discount on my monthly premium (for taking a lesser phone than what I had been promised and give me the powerbank I would have gotten if i took the Samsung Galaxy J7.

3. Action to be taken against Nicolas and Nicola for their poor services.

This is the worst experience ever as a consumer that I have ever experienced.
