Upgrades a mess and complaints procedures takes ages!- Telkom case ***8

Good advice to any Telkom Mobile client: When you want to upgrade, rather consider account conversion to Pay as you go and then you apply for a new contract. Let me explain why:

1. If you have a contract with discounted internet bundles, this bundle will transfer to your new contract AT FULL COST! This happens due to poor processing in the back office. (or this is what I was told)

2. When you receive excessive bills do not try to go to a Telkom shop - they cannot even log a dispute but need to log a "request for bill dispute", which means a third party along the line can mess it up again.

3. Forget about the email service from the web page. This is ignored and does not even show on their records.

4. If you call the call centre you may find very helpful staff, but the response time to address such dispute takes up to 3 weeks. Not very helpful if a lot of money was deducted by debit order in error!

5. If you take action and reverse the debit orders yourself, you will soon get a notice that your account will be cut, without them properly investigating if the account is correct.

6. If you do log a case with Accounts the response time will be most likely too slow to reach Collections and your line will be cut anyway - as happened to me today.

If your line is cut you cannot make a free call to the customer service department any more.

Clearly this is not a company with compassion for its customers!
