Unsolicited activation of service

After receiving a call from a call centre sales operative, asking whether or not I would be interested in a home wireless service (to which I politely declined), I received a sms confirming my new service and a later follow up stating that I would in future receive regular messages providing me with information regarding the service. Calling the call centre was a complete waste of time (call centre operative has no clue regarding services that they offer - Telkom must not have heard of a foreign concept called training your workers?!), nor was she able to confirm whether the service has in fact been activated. So I will now have to take time off work to stand in a qeue at a Telkom branch so I can (hope to) try and find out whether this service has actually been activated. The website link that was sent to my phone is of no use either (maybe if they can decide which websites they actually want to use - 8ta, telkom mobile or telkom - and get designers with actual knowledge of website usability guidelines to code their websites for them, that might work sometime in future), so now the question is whether someone working for Telkom might actually be able to tell me exactly what is going on. And if the service was indeed activated despite my instruction to the contrary, surely this constitutes ***** and the person responsible should be taken to task?
