I took a contract on May promotion of the Huaweu Wi-Fi router 10GB for 139 per month on the 05 May 2019. Same day of activation the sales consultant ( Lebo Makhubo) told me that I need to have the Huawei HiLink app to track my data usage. Lebo downloaded the app using my new Wi-Fi router and I noticed that already 1GB was used up and I try to ask him why and he just brushed me off by saying I still have 9GB balance. I took the Wi-Fi router home and did not use it because I still had my Vodacom date on my phone which expired at night on 08 May 2019. On the 09 and 10th I switch on the new Wi-Fi for usage the whole day except at night when I sleep. On the 11th May 2019, when I switched on the Wi-Fi router I noticed that the Wi-Fi route reflected that I already used 6GB meaning I was left with 4GB to go and that was a shock because I only use data for the past 2 days for whatsapp messages and nothing else. Then immediately I switch off the Wi-Fi realising that this was abnormal. Secondly , I also noted that I had to charge the WIFI router due to the battery was low and the devise got very hot as it was charging, On the 12th May 2019, I went back to Telkom to complain with regard to the quick usage of date and the device being hot when its charged. I was assisted by sales consultant( Isaac) and I told Isaac that the reason I bought the WIFI router of 10GB was for my small business and that my friends had recommended that I will have data for at least two months due to the data will be enough to carry me thru the month to month. So, I told Isaac that I want to cancel the contract with immediate effect due to it was not worth it to carry on with it if 6GB data get used up in 2days of me using the device and the fact that I came within 7days to put in the complain and entitled to cancel such contract if it doesn't suit my small business. Isaac refused to cancel the contract and he told me that even if its within 7days I will have to pay for the device to cancel an the amount is R1100 and he told me that the system show that I did use the device for the 2days and only on the 10 May 2019 between 8pm and 10pm I used 4GB, hence the device indicate that I used in total 6GB. Isaac called Lebo to assist but both of them they still told me that they cannot just cancel the contract it maybe that my phone software needed to be updated because wifi router updates software and apps automatically so I must give it a chance and see what happens in the next month. I told them that I do not want to wait for next month because if the same thing happens my 7days of cancellation would have elapsed. Isaac and Lebo still refused to cancel the contract and suggested that the devise be sent for repairs and I will only know the outcome after 21 working days and then maybe will have a solution. I still told them even if they find the fault on the device, I still want to cancel the contract because its costing me currently i don't have data and I had to buy data from my Vodacom network. And still am being told that Telkom is going to bill me for the data that I do not know what happened. Isaac switched on the device and it indicated that only now as I was in the shop am left with 2GB of which I do not know what happened to the 2GB ( from 6GB on to 8GB). Isaac logged the call and I received a reference no. ********** 3 and that the device has been booked for Ref TOC.
