Unprofessional, unpunctual and cost me an entire day's pay

I have heard all the terrible tales about Telkom's service, but to experience it firsthand is something else.

I made a booking for a landline installation on the 18th of January, and was told they would come on the 6th of February (today), and that I would need to be there from 07:30 until 16:00, since it is a whole day appointment.

Now if I don't work, I don't get paid, so I decided I will take the day off to be here anyway for this. Patiently waited entire day without hearing a word from them. Tried calling multiple times, wasting around an hours worth of airtime. Still no information.

Come 16:00, nothing. finally, just before 17:00 a subcontractor of theirs called CORLINE pitches up. They briefly look to asses how much work is required.

Once they see that it is not a simple job and will take an hour or two, disappear for awhile saying they need to check something. Once they return to me, they give some kind of excuse which I didn't understand, and tell me it will take another two or three days.

No matter what I explain to them I cannot simply take more time off, nothing can persuade them. While dealing with the one sent to talk to me, the other two were lounging about in the van s******ing. My assumption is that it was too late and they didnt want to work anymore.

The final outcome of the whole thing: all they can do is comment on the incident in their daily report and I should propably reapply. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable.

So whether the blame lies in Corline or Telkom, I do not know. Either way I am the one stuck with the costs, with no clear way ahead, and no way to proceed.

Does anybody have any advice on how to proceed?
