Unnecessary billing

To whom it may concern

To start i want to emphasize that Telkom gives the worst service with everything.

I took the R599 4MBPS Uncapped package that was on "special" at the time, for my personal home use. The problems started from the beginning of installation of the line, when the technician did the install for the indoor line.

I have my own router, therefore we are on the month-to-month option, so i left the router out that day when he installed the line.

I got home that night after i received a call saying that everything is working i can just put in my password and everything will work. That however was not the case, i literally struggled for for over a week to get the connection active. And that is with me eventually figuring out what to do myself, because i got no assistance from Telkom.

Then when the internet was eventually on it worked for about two weeks without any problems. I started dropping the signal, so that there is no connectivity.

So as you do, i restarted the router an ample amount of times and checked all the connection that they are plugged in, but yet the problem persisted. And with all of this back and forth calling and checking that all the wires are intact I still have to pay the internet that has only worked properly for two weeks.

After i felt that i had enough, i logged a call, so that they can have a look at the problem. A technician called me to ask when he can have a look at the problem, a few days later he came out and started checking what the problem could be.

After a very long search he came to the conclusion that the ADSL filter****tle white box) was giving an error on the line. He called me afterwards to say that the problem is fixed according to him, so that night when i got home i checked the internet and the speed.

For about a week it ran without any problems and without disconnecting, then it all started again.

So with all that mentioned i receive my monthly statement via my email. And i see that my statement amount is R901.09 and normally it is R599.00. And the reason for the extra amount of R304.21 is indicated on the statement as "Unnecessary Call-out Fee".

Now my question is this how can Telkom say it was an unnecessary call out when the problem is still not sorted out, and costing me the client Unnecessary money and time wasting that I could of enjoyed using the internet that is actually pay for if the internet was working properly from the start.

My personal opinion about Telkom is the following, because they have most of the monopoly in the Tele-Communication world, they think they can just keep on giving bad service to the loyal clients. I would not recommend Telkom to anybody on this earth, they deliver a pathetic excuse for service delivery.

Is suppose they only give the very big and rich clients and companies the best service, and the rest of the "normal" people they treat like they want.

It is a shame that the competition against Telkom is gaining so slow, but once the competition is strong enough, i wont think twice about going to another service provider.

I am also seriously reconsidering other ISP's as soon as my billing query is fixed. Preferably a ISP that does not use of a Telkom line. To whom ever is reading this, do not even consider Telkom not even as a last option aswell
