I signed up for a month to month contract in 2015, which the salesman in store told me would be on a month to month basis and cancellable at any stage. In mid 2016 I moved across to the UK, and stopped the stop order. From that point on the stop orders have continued to come off of my account and have been extremely irregular. The original amount had been for R299 per month.

Since August 2016, I was charged 4 times for R2093, more than double what was supposed to come off of my account. Unfortunately, being overseas I hadn't realised that the stop orders were continuing to come off of my account (the last charge was for R598, 10 days after the previous amount had already gone off of my account!). Since disputing the charge, Telkom has attempted to remove R2691 from my account (in less than 3 months). I have discussed the matter with my bank, who agree that the charges are irregular.

I contacted Telkom, and was told that I needed to visit the exact branch where I signed the contract. The man I spoke to had very little idea how to help and said he couldn't transfer me to an accounts department. He stated I had signed a 24 month contract, however was unable to provide me with the contract or proof of my involvement in it, and said that all contracts were only kept in a hard copy at the store where the contract was signed. Unable to go into the store, I contacted the store manager, who said that no contracts were kept there and they were centralised, and put in a request for my contract to be emailed to me (I gave him my email address). Since then I have had no correspondence from Telkom. I contacted the man I had initially been on the phone with, but he has never rep****.

This surely amounts to theft on Telkom's behalf? The amounts which leave my account are never the same and always on a different day of the month, sometimes only 2 weeks after the previous payment. The last amount removed was R1196, which will be disputed and hopefully reversed by my Bank AGAIN.
