My phone was blacklisted on 11/01/2021 at great personal and professional inconvenience. On 23/01/2021 I was informed by Vodacom that Telkom Mobile had blacklisted a handset with my phone's IMEI number.
I am not a client of Telkom Mobile; the handset in question was on contract with Vodacom. I then converted to pay-as-you-go and migrated the number to MTN. I am therefore at a loss as to why Telkom Mobile has blacklisted the phone, which was neither lost nor ******. It is, in fact, still in my possession and functioning adequately barring the network blockade it is currently experiencing. It is also one of the devices registered with my Apple ID. I can only surmise that someone was trying to blacklist a device and entered the wrong IMEI number.
I contacted the cell number provided in the Vodacom email thread multiple times since 23/01/2021; no one picks up. On 26/01/2021 I was on the phone with Telkom for 26 minutes and the matter was not resolved. The lady who was assisting me stated that she needed to discuss the matter with her line manager. She took down my details and promised to call me back. I have received no call back to date. At this point, I am not engaging with the call centre any further, as the exercised proved not only time-consuming but also appears to have served no discernible purpose.
I reiterate, I am not a client of Telkom Mobile. It is the responsibility of your employees to ensure correct handsets are blacklisted. It is also your responsibility to reverse the errors of said employees in an appropriate manner.
