Unbelievably poor service and lack of accountability from Telkom
Telkom erroneously charged my device obligation fee as a lump sum instead of over instalments over the period of my previous contract when I did a device upgrade in May. I immediately notified them that this was incorrect on the 8 June when I received my invoice via email. After numerous follow-ups, where I was being assured that the change was made, even though this was not reflecting on my profile, my account is now suspended since as I had informed them, there was no way I was going to be able to be able to absorb a telephone bill of over R4000 from when I was paying a monthly R638. The service I have experienced is just so disappointing and mentally draining from these guys. Escalating cases is of no help as nothing is done. I've even lodged a case with ICASA to try get my case resolved. And still I am not getting anywhere. What is clear is that Telkom is just interested in exploiting their customers and are a law unto themselves. They have acknowledged that they have reversed the error and are able to see funds that have been deposited in my account yet my phone is still suspended. I have asked a consultant Nombulelo Kubalo to speak to her supervisor, after she acknowledged that there was an escalation note to my profile, yet it hadn't been actioned. She confirmed to notify her manager, Nqobile Tusina to call me back. She has not done so. Similarly Abulele Mbie, who has been handling my ICASA complaint, has not been able to get anywhere as well. Visits to the Telkom branches are futile as the consultants there tell you that they are unable to assist and calls should be made to the call centre. They make promises to revert back to you, but never do. It's just been totally unacceptable service from this company.
