Unauthorized Contract Renewal, Misleading Advertising & Poor Service from Telkom
Telkom’s service and ethics have reached a new low.
Firstly, Telkom’s direct marketing team renewed one of my contracts without my consent. The renewal was done by Tebogo on 25 July 2025 from ***, even after I clearly stated that I did not want to renew.
When I followed up, I was told under Case Number ***3 (19 August 2025) that the contract had been renewed as a SIM-only plan, supposedly allowing me to cancel or upgrade at any time. I have voice recordings of these calls confirming this. However, when I went to a Telkom store to upgrade the contract, I was informed that I could only cancel it — and would lose the number if I did. This directly contradicts what Telkom confirmed in writing and over the phone. I have since cancelled that contract and am seriously considering cancelling my second Telkom contract as well.
Secondly, Telkom’s October 2025 promotional booklet advertises the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, yet every Telkom store I have contacted says they’ve had no stock for over five months. This is a textbook example of bait marketing, which is ******* under Section 30 of the Consumer Protection Act. Advertising a product that you cannot supply is not just ********* — it’s misleading and ********.
Lastly, I visited Telkom Centurion Mall on 12 October 2025, where I was promised that a Galaxy S24 Ultra would be sourced and arrive by 14 or 15 October. When I called to confirm, I was told “maybe tomorrow (16 October)” — with no cer*****y or accountability.
Telkom’s conduct reflects misleading advertising, ********* contract practices, and unreliable customer service. I have lost all trust in this company and would strongly caution others before entering into any agreements with them.
