Unauthorised package upgrade and incorrect billing

Telkom recently upgraded my neighbourhood's internet connectivity from copper line to Fibre. They contacted me to offer me 3 months "free trial" to upgrade my line from 2MBPS to 10MBPS. This promotion was free of charge and the terms were that after the 3 month promotion period my line speed would be downgraded to 2MBPS unless I requested to remain on the higher speed.

I was contaced by Telkom by sms and then also by phone to ask whether I would like to remain on the 10MBPS line and I opted not to (I.e I wanted to be downgraded back to my original speed). However now that the promotion period has ended my line speed has not been downgraded and I am being invoiced a ridiculous fee for 10MBPS which I do not want. So my latest bill was over R1300 instead if my usual R550.

I have been on the phone multiple times to Telkom agents and the best I could get was to get them to lodge a dispute for my bill. I subsequently got an sms from Telkom telling me my dispute has been completed and that I will get a credit that will reflect on my next invoice. Well my next invoice still shows that I am being charged for this upgraded line speed that I did not request and I can verify this as a line speed test shows that Telkom have not downdraded to my original line speed as they stated they would.

So in effect I am being charged monthly for a service that I didn't request and despite trying to resolve it all that is happening is that I am getting invoiced every month for a larger internet package because Telkom are not reverting to my original package.

Please assist as nobody has been able to sort this out to date!
