Unacceptable service and unauthorised debit after a disputed account

I am extremely disappointed with the way this company has handled my complaint.

Earlier this year, I was contacted by a sales representative and offered an unlimited data package for R250 per month. I accepted the offer on the understanding that I would receive the terms and conditions, that the SIM card would be registered and activated, and that the service would be working before I was expected to pay.

None of this happened.

I never received the promised confirmation email or terms and conditions. When the SIM card arrived about a week later, it was not registered, not activated and had no data. In other words, I never received the service I was supposedly being charged for.

Despite this, the company proceeded with debit orders. I initially allowed the first two payments, believing the problem would be resolved. When it became clear that the service had never been provided, I reversed the debit orders, which also resulted in unnecessary bank charges.

I formally disputed the account and clearly explained the situation, but the company never properly investigated the matter and never resolved my complaint. Instead, I continued receiving calls and SMSs from debt collectors claiming that I owed money.

What is even more unacceptable is that the company has now attempted to debit approximately R850 from my bank account, despite the account being formally disputed and the fact that I never received the service.

How can a company continue attempting to collect money from a customer without first investigating a legitimate dispute?

I consider this extremely unfair and unacceptable. I am demanding that this matter be properly investigated, that the disputed balance be removed, and that all collection and debit-order activity relating to this account stop immediately.

Customers should not be expected to pay for services that were never activated or provided. I hope this review gets the attention of someone who is actually willing to investigate and resolve the matter.
