Unacceptable assistance from Telkom!!

It seems like Telkom has recently had a breach of its internal security! I currently have a cellular and data contract with Telkom, I went onto the online portal to obtain my latest statement and, to my shock, discovered that I have not one, but five additional prepaid SIM cards registered against my name. I contacted Telkom's helpline to query this and after two hours of being on the phone being pushed from pillar to post, I eventually got someone to assist me. I was told the five numbers had been RICA'd in at a shop in Johannesburg, with my ID number at 18:35 on 12/02/2022. I reside 300KM from Johannesburg! I was told that all they can do is block the SIM cards and I need to open a case of *****. I was also told in order to do this, I would need to go and get a signed affidavit at the police station along with a few other documents and that there is no turn around time to get this resolved. Is Telkom going to cover my time away from work to stand at a police station and get these documents?

What I don't understand is, how can you RICA a cellphone number / SIM card without a proof of residence and valid copy of a person's ID? This leads me to believe that this is possibly an internal breach of security and privacy.

This is totally unacceptable! I suggest that Telkom gets in touch with me ASAP as I WILL be seeking legal council with regard to this.
