Unable to get rid of Telkom
I am very irate with Telkom. They have made it extremely difficult to cancel an ADSL service. They have done away with doing it in-store and on the phone. You now have to do so online by creating an account on telkom.co.za.
I have done all of the above, submitted my cancellation request (5 Aug 2018), got the SMS'es with the respective call ref number per cancellation request. I called Telkom (6 Aug 2018) to confirm they have received my cancellation request, which they did. According to Telkom, you will serve a 30 days notices period and pay the last invoice 60 days after the initial request.
I again called Telkom (4 Sept 2018) to ensure all is in order with the requested cancellation of service and was told it will "kick" in on the 5th as per the request. I paid the last invoice as per the 60 days 25 Sept 2018.
So today, 08 Oct 2018 I get a Telkom bill for my ADSL. Called Telkom which said they have never received my cancellation request and the reference numbers I provided in not on the system. Now, I am not going to pay for a service I cancelled using their (Telkom) process.
I would like to know Telkom, how does one go about it now? Why do you make it so hard to cancel a service?
