Unable to cancel Telkom LTE contract that I never ordered or ask for!!

I did have a Telkom landline account with an ADSL package, with a Telkom email address. At the beginning of 2020 I successfully cancelled the ADSL line (as I installed a fibre line with a non-Telkom provider), but kept the landline and Telkom email address operational.

My account number was ***

Then in April 2020 Telkom sent me a router with an unlimited LTE internet data package. The router was signed for by my father who is not the legal account holder. I was not aware of this package being sent to me, and neither was my father. I never placed an order for this package as I now have a fibre line from a non-Telkom provider. I did not and have not used this package.

As the country was at Level 5 lockdown during this period I was unable to visit a Telkom store. However, I did send a email ***. I received no reply to this email query. I then phoned the Telkom customer services and told them of the situation. I was told the LTE package was successfully cancelled, but my landline and Telkom email address would remain active.

However, subsequent to this I started to receive invoices still billing me for the unlimited LTE internet package. By this time the country was in Level 3 lockdown, so I visited the Telkom shop at Benoni to try and resolve the issue. at the shop I was told that I had been sent the incorrect product, and I should have received a package for the landline as Telkom was getting rid of the fixed landline system. I returned the router to Telkom Benoni, Lakeside mall and was told the issue had been resolved.

Despite this, I still received bills for the LTE package that was incorrectly sent to me. I then visited the Telkom store at Greenstone Edenvale to try and resolve the issue again. Here I was not told that my email address was linked to the LTE package and that to cancel the LTE package I would need to get rid of the Telkom email address. So I did and got rid of my Telkom email address. I was now told that everything was sorted out and all I would now have is a Telkom telephone landline.

As all my invoices were sent to me by email via my Telkom email address I then stopped receiving invoices by email. However, I continued to paid a set amount for the landline, expected to receive bills by post (to date I have not received any further bills). The estimated amount I paid was based on my past Landline costs plus extra.

As far as I was told by the Telkom employee at the shop the issue was resolved and all sorted. However today I received a phone call from a debt collector about my unpaid Telkom account and told I owe Telkom +R4000!!!

1) I never ask or ordered this package. 2) Telkom sent it to me without my knowledge or permission. 3) As I and my father were not aware of this, my father signed for the package as he did not know what it was about 4) My father is not the legal account holder so Telkom had no right to accept this. 5) Telkom admitted they were meant to send me a package for my landline and an unlimited LTE package. 6) I never received a reply to my initial email enquiry. 7) I was when dealing with the customer service people on the phone that issue was sorted out. I even received an sms to state it was resolved 8) I was also told when visiting the shop that the LTE package and telkom email address was cancelled. 9) The router was returned to the Benoni, Lakeside Mall shop, without ever being used.. 10) I never used any of the data or the router. I have a non-Telkom fibre line so have no use for the Telkom LTE package. 11) I was led to believe that after my last visit to the Telkom shop that the problem had finally been successfully resolved. 12) When I tried to log onto my account on the internet to check if things had finally been sorted, I was given the message that the account was no longer active, further giving me the impression that it actually had been finally cancelled.

How do I sort this problem out Telkom and cancel my Telkom account? I have exhausted every method I can think of!!

Can someone who knows what they are doing at Telkom please contact me.
