I tried applying for a contract today just to discover my ID number is already registered with different details. Their is a different name, address registered under my ID number. All they could tell me is a contract was taken out in 2020 but because their isn't an active contract they can't assist me. I have to go to home affairs and check if my ID has been comprised. My first question is how was the credit check done because I was fresh out of university and just started my 1st job, secondly was there a proof of identification submitted for this. The consultants are telling me to go to home affairs. I made a new ID in 2021 after this transaction occurred and home affairs would have picked up that my ID has been compromised. But again now I'm questioning this. I app**** online for the contract. The consultant calls me back asks me for my ID and sees that the name im giving him and the name reflecting on the system is not the same but doesn't flag it. He rather continues trying to see if he can put the process through and if I qualify. Its very disappointing and disturbing that they don't feel it's serious only because there is an active line
