Trying to have a matured contract cancelled

I have a data contract that run it's 24 month contract period on 8 October. In Sept already I went into a Telkom store, completed the required paperwork, and was told someone from Retentions will call me back to confirm the cancellation. Firstly, if they call it the retention department, I should have known. With no other company is this required. When you fill in paperwork, with your ID and signature, that is sufficient.

Now, I am an airline pilot who does not always have the luxury of having my cellphone on during office hours. Since October I have received 2 messages to say they are calling from the retentions department, case no, and they did try and get hold of me. BUT, there is NO way of phoning them back. So then they just close the case, and I have to keep on paying my contract. I have even gone as far as given the online chat person who re-opened the case for the 3rd time about 6 dates when I would be off for the day, and therefore contactable, but no luck. Is this how Telkom keep contracts going? I will just be cancelling debit orders from the end of this month. Latest Ref no 172 513 17
